Braves Pick Up Huge Win in Baltimore
June 10, 2017
BALTIMORE, MD – Keeping themselves from entering a three-game skid, the Herndon Braves managed to defeat the Baltimore Redbirds in convincing fashion, 11-3.
Jumping out of the gates offensively, the Braves put up a tally in the first thanks to a Sammy Stevens RBI. The Redbirds would answer quickly, however, as they would scrape across two of their own to claim the lead.
In the fourth, Cayden Stover continued his hot stretch with an RBI single to knot things up at 2. Finding more runs the following inning, Herndon reclaimed the lead by making it 4-2 after a sacrifice fly and an RBI single from Bowen Plagge and Sammy Stevens, respectivey.
Baltimore showed life in the sixth, adding one and resultantly cutting the deficit to one.
The remainder of the game’s scoring would show favor to the visiting Braves, as the team notched three runs in the seventh, two in the eighth, and two in the ninth to make it 11-3 before closing it out in the bottom of the ninth.
On the mound for the Braves, Garett Lutkins, Austin Kunde, and Mitch Holloway threw the final 3 and 2/3 innings, giving up just four hits with zero runs allowed.
With the win, the Braves bounce back and improve their record to 2-3.
Their next game will be tomorrow against the Silver Spring-Takoma T Bolts at Blair Stadium at 6:00 p.m.
