Braves, Hall Beat Giants 5-3

GAITHERSBURG, MD- Desperately needing a win to stay in the playoff hunt, the Braves beat the Giants 5-3 behind a brilliant effort on the mound from Conner Hall.
The Braves got off to a great start, scoring two runs. Brett Norwood and Richard Constantine both worked one-out walks that would come back to bite the Giants, when Alex Bernauer smoked a double to left scoring Norwood. Nick Wheeler would hit a grounder to 2nd, scoring Constantine from 3rd and giving the Braves the early 2-0 advantage.
The Braves would double their advantage in the 3rd. Cayden Stover would rip a lead off double to center field and come home on a Constantine double to left. Wheeler would follow Constantine with a double to right, making the score 4-0 Braves.
Herndon would add another run in the 4th, when Tim Johnson ripped a two-out single to left. Johnston would steal 2nd and come home on a Stover single, making the score 5-0 Braves.
The Giants would show signs on life in the 5th inning when they put the first two runners on base. An error by Hall would score both of them, cutting the Braves lead to 5-2.
The Giants would score once more in the bottom of the 7th, but that's all they would get as the Braves held on to win the game 5-2.
Conner Hall went 6.2 innings on the mound, only allowing three hits while allowing no earned runs, striking out five and walking one batter. Tim Johnson had three hits, while Nick Wheeler had two RBI's
With the win, the Braves improved their record to 16-22. Their next game is Thursday, July 20 vs. Rockville Express at Montgomery College. First pitch is set for 7:00pm.
