Braves Drop Marathon Game to Express 4-3

ROCKVILLE, MD- In a game that nearly last five hours, featured seven pitching changes and 487 pitches thrown, the Express defeated the Braves 4-3 in the 16th inning.
The game would remain scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning when the Express cashed in on a lead off triple to make the score 1-0.
The Braves would answer with a run of their own in the 4th, using three hits from Ciaran Devenny, Alex Bernauer, and and RBI single from Chandler Miller to tie the score 1-1. However, the Express would retake the lead in the bottom half of the 4th on a wild pitch to make the advantage 2-1.
In the 6th, Conner Hall would lead off the inning with a single and advance to second on a Devenney single. Bernauer would also single, loading the bases for Chandler Miller. Miller would chop a ball to the 2nd baseman, scoring Hall from 3rd. Dakota Graham would single home Devenney, giving the Braves a 3-2 lead.
The Express would tie the game in the bottom of the 9th on a bases loaded walk. They would walk off the game in the bottom of the 16th inning on an RBI single.
On the mound, John DeFazio would come in relief, throwing 4.2 innings, giving up four hits, no earned runs, two walks, and six strikouts. Dakota Graham had four hits at the plate for the Braves including an RBI.
With the loss, the Braves dropped to 16-23. Their next game is Friday, July 21 vs. Bethesda Big Train, their final regular season game. First pitch is set for 7:00pm.
