July 3, 2017

SILVER SPRING, MD – Just one night after surrendering 15 runs to the Alexandria Aces, the Herndon Braves were unable to bounce back against the Silver Spring-Takoma T Bolts, falling by a score of 11-1.

The T Bolts jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first after a RBI single from Garrett Stonehouse.

Brodie Leftridge added to the lead in the third with a solo homerun. The team’s next run came in the fifth, where Garrett Stonehouse continued his successful night at the plate, driving one in with a double.

The Braves lone run came in the sixth when Richard Constantine advanced to first on an error, allowing Brett Norwood to score.

The sixth inning saw a barrage of offense from Silver Spring-Takoma, however, as the home team would put up six runs in the frame. A 2-RBI double, a 2-RBI single, and back-to-back RBI singles, the T Bolts were sitting with a 9-1 lead.

Adding insurance in the seventh, the T Bolts earned two runs on a pair of bases-loaded walks, pushing the score to 11-1, the eventual final tally.

On the mound for the Braves, Randolf Flores was near perfect in his inning of relief, allowing no runs and striking out one of his three batters faced.

With the loss, the Braves fall to 12-14.

The team’s next game will be Wednesday, July 5 when they take on the Baltimore Dodgers at Joe Cannon Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
