Big Train Roll Braves Friday Night, 9-0
July 7, 2017
VIENNA, VA – In a contest that would be delayed by a passing rain shower, the Herndon Braves were unable to muster any offense in their 9-0 loss to the Bethesda Big Train.
Neither team would be able to string together any offense in the handful of innings prior to the weather delay, but runs would find their way onto the scoreboard shortly thereafter.
Bethesda would be the first club to find the plate, scoring once in the top of the fourth on a RBI single from Kevin Milam.
The Big Train tacked on a pair in the sixth to put themselves up 3-0 against a struggling Braves offense. In the seventh they would add one more on a RBI double, and they would enter the final two innings maintaining a shutout against the Braves.
The shutout would continue into the eighth, but the Big Train lead would be extended thanks to a Logan Driscoll solo home run. The deficit for the Braves would grow in the ninth, as a Bethesda grand slam put the game out of reach, making it 9-0.
The Braves were only able to record three hits on the night en route to being shut out.
On the mound for the Braves, Casey Goldenberg was efficient in his start, throwing five innings surrendering just two runs on six hits.
With the loss, the Braves drop to 12-16 on the season.
The team’s next game will be tomorrow, Saturday, July 8 as they host the Loudoun Riverdogs at Herndon High School. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
